Rototuna Village

Rototuna Village | Hamilton

The Rototuna Village development brings four new commercial buildings to the eastern side of North City Road in Hamilton. The initial two buildings offer vibrant retail and hospitality spaces that serve both the local community and visitors. The next phase of development is intended to provide two-storey spaces suited for office and medical facilities.

BCD Group is proud to be part of this transformative project, providing Surveying, Geotechnical, Civil, Structural, and Fire engineering services.

Our civil engineering team delivered designs for three water infrastructure projects and carpark pavements, while also addressing flood risk. The site is located within an Earthworks Area on Hamilton City Council’s Floodviewer, requiring detailed flood modelling and verification to ensure compliance and resilience.

The site’s variable and soft upper soils, combined with proximity to site boundaries, presented unique challenges to our geotechnical team. The team designed shallow ground improvements using reinforced geogrid wrapping to reduce settlement and enhance bearing capacity, ensuring stability for the new buildings.

Efficient structural design in coordination with the design team and contractor allowed early building consenting of the structure to help the contractor deliver the buildings to a tight programme for the client. Notably, the structural consent was approved with no council RFIs.
